Wally, I remember you not only for the love we feel for you, but also for the love you had for so many things...
- You loved your home, but mostly you loved sharing it with your family and friends.
- You loved inviting us to join you after a bike ride on a hot, sunny day, sitting on your driveway with cold beer, sharing all the stories about the ride that day.
- You loved helping us enjoy cycling as much as you did, giving us support and encouragement, maybe even changing 2 or 3 flat tires in one day for a friend at the River Cities Tour!
- You loved it when we called you "Ralph Lauren," at least I THINK you liked it, because you gave us that big grin and your ears turned a little pink. With your silver hair, brown eyes, and suntan, you were just as handsome and classy as the original Ralph Lauren, if not more so!
- You loved your Corvette and the Myrtle Beach Party and the Mountaineers.
- You loved helping anybody with anything, and you were good at it. Fund raisers, horse shows, kids, bike rides, friends, celebrations--more people think of you as a BROTHER than you could ever guess.
- You loved being called "Wally Baby" by little Savannah, and hopefully by all of us, because we couldn't help it! Unless we called you "Coach WB" instead! (And by now you probably have all the angels in Heaven on road bikes, and they are probably calling you "Wally Baby," too.)
- But above all else, you loved the daughter that you were so proud of you couldn't speak of her without a big smile on your face and the son that you enjoyed so much you considered him your best friend.
So, Wally, while we already miss you so much, we still have a beautiful legacy that has been such a blessing. It was a =]wonderul ride.
